Ready to Become a Caregiver?

Atlanta  Elderly Home Care aides bring joy to older adults and others who need assistance by supporting them with in-home care and therapeutic services that make them safer, healthier, and more independent.

What It Takes To Become A Caregiver

Patience, compassion and a genuine desire to help others are essential qualities for anyone considering a career in caregiving. Atlanta  Elderly Home Care professionals strive to improve the quality of life for those aging in place, recovering from injury, or living with a chronic health condition. We are dedicated to a life of service and continued education.

At Atlanta  Elderly Home Care, we pride ourselves on our values and expectations, which we call The Atlanta  Elderly Home Care Way. Our caregivers are the best in the business, and they exemplify these values every day. With composure, empathy, integrity, trust, and perseverance, we are able to overcome any challenge.

Caregiver

Some of the behaviors we appreciate in a caregiver are:

  • Being warm, pleasant, and gracious
  • Being sensitive to and patient with the interpersonal anxieties of others
  • Admitting mistakes
  • Pursuing everything with energy, drive, and a need to succeed
  • Encouraging collaboration
  • Building effective relationships
  • Enjoying learning about other cultures

Being a primary caregiver with Atlanta  Elderly Home Care is a very rewarding and challenging role that demands flexibility. We offer caregiving services 24/7 and are highly responsive to client requests. Everything from senior care to respite care is available.

Certified Nursing Assistant

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

CNAs are licensed nursing aides with both classroom education and hands-on experience. Of the three types of caregivers, they have the most rigorous health care education and caregiving training requirements. They also provide more caregiver support than the others, including monitoring medical conditions and administering certain treatments.

Home health aide

Home Health Aide (HHA)

Home health aides provide support services to older adults and others who need assistance remaining independent. Duties include educating clients on proper nutrition, light housekeeping, dressing and monitoring wounds, and more. States require HHAs to meet similar caregiving training requirements as CNAs, though their health care training is more limited.

Personal care attendant

Personal Care Attendant (PCA)

Personal care aides help clients with activities such as showering, oral care, skin care, and meal preparation. Personal caregivers don’t need a health care education but must have a certain number of supervised training hours before providing support services.

Our Personalized Health Support

Physical Therapy

Physical Therapy

Physical therapy is an important part of restoring functionality to the body, reducing pain, and improving the lives of seniors and medically frail patients in recovery from injury or illness. Our physical therapists develop a treatment plan for your loved ones to help them regain strength, mobility, and flexibility.

Respite Care

Respite Care

People who care for their family members can’t be more attentive to their own health than to the health of their loved ones. Atlanta  Elderly Home Care caregivers are available to step in and provide short-term care for your family member while you rest and recuperate.

Occupational therapy

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy can help your loved one live a better quality of life by assisting them in retaining the fine motor skills and cognitive abilities necessary to do everyday tasks. Our therapy plans help keep your family member mobile and healthy.

Our Approach

Our Approach

To ensure comfort and independence for your loved ones, we take the time to get to know your family and your care requirements, matching you with care coordinators who fit your specific needs.

Become a Caregiver

At Atlanta Elderly Home Care, we offer the training that private homemakers and companion caregivers in Georgia need to gain basic caregiving skills. This training covers topics such as HIPAA, safety, infection control, and elder abuse. Caregivers are required to have 8 hours of training on state-approved topics within the first year of certification, with renewal training each following year.

To become a certified nurse aide, you must complete a state-approved program that meets the minimum federal caregiving training requirements and pass the CNA certification exam. Continuing education units (CEUs) are required every year thereafter.

Become a caregiver

Become a Companion Caregiver

Senior companion care aides help older adults with everyday tasks, like grocery shopping and light housekeeping. These home care aides make aging in place more enjoyable and comfortable for clients. To become a companion caregiver, applicants need a GED or high school diploma, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record. Those who have prior experience working with the elderly and who have strong interpersonal skills are ideal candidates for the position.
